That’s the only bad thing about variegated yarn that I can think, you always have to struggle with pooling.

Es lo único malo que puedo ver con el estambre de cacetas varigated, siempre te tienes que estar peleando para que no haya pooling.

PS. Por favor alguien ilumíneme y díganme los términos en español de “pooling” y “varigated”

A sweater of many buttons

Pattern: Buttony Sweater by Katie AND Top-down Cardi v.2.0 by Laura
Yarn: Araucania Nature Wool (100% wool, 100g, 242 yds.) in Color 28 AZ 18-0440, 7 skeins used doubled.
Needles: Addi Turbo US 10(6mm)
Cast On: March 26
Cast Off: April 19
Mods: My gauge was different to the original pattern (smaller) so I cast-on less stitches than recommended. I also wanted a not so wide neck. After that the pattern is more like a recipe, and because it is a top down sweater I just increased till it fitted me.

I also did a bit of waist shaping following the instructions of Laura, I didn’t want a sweater to boxy.

Mi muestra era diferente de la requerida (mas pequeña) entonces monte menos puntos de los requeridos en el cuello de los que me pedían, además lo quería con el cuello mas angosto. Después es mas receta que patrón y como el sweater es tejido de cuello abajo básicamente solo haces aumentos hasta que te quede el sweater.

También le hice aumentos y disminuciones en la cintura de acuerdo a las instrucciones de Laura, para que tuviera un poco de forma y no estuviera tan cuadrado.

Comments:I’m not very happy with the overall result. As this is my first top down, I measured wrong when I tried it on and made too many increases at the start of the sweater. This led to big sleeves, baggy armpit and to a bigger sweater that what I was aiming for.

And because of all those increases the button band is too centered making the sweater look weird.

Is not a total loss, I love the color and the Araucania wool (too bad my LYS stopped carrying it). Moreover the sweater is very warm (I suffered at the photo shoot) and very cozy so I think will get a lot of wear next winter. It was a nice learning experience for my next top down because I’m totally in love of this type of sweater construction, especially for cardigans!

La verdad no estoy muy contenta con el resultado final por varias razones: Primero como es mi primer sweater top-down no supe medir bien e hice demasiados aumentos al empezar el sweater, lo que resulto en mangas grandes muy debajo de la axila y bolsudas al principio del sweater. También el sweater quedo un poco mas grande de lo que quería.

Pero no es una perdida total, me fascino el color, no puedo dejar de verlo. Es una verdadera lastima que hayan dejado de vender Araucania aquí y que me acabe todo lo que tenia guardado. Pero eso si el sweater esta súper cómodo y demasiado calientito (sufrí cuando me tome las fotos). Yo creo que a pesar de todos los detallitos que tiene me lo voy a poner mucho en invierno y pues fue un experiencia de aprendizaje para mi próximo top-down sweater porque la verdad me enamore de la construcción de cuello abajo, especialmente para cardigans.

Pinku

I started a blog themed blanket. Is going to be a log cabin blanket based on the Moderne Log Cabin from Mason-Dixon knitting but with a larger gauge. I’m using Omega Sinfonia Cotton but doubled in US 9, I just couldn’t bear the thought of knitting a whole blanket in sportweight.

Empecé una colchita inspirada por los colores del blog. Va a ser basada en la Moderne Log Cabin del libro de Mason-Dixon knitting, pero con agujas mas grandes. Estoy usando algodón Omega Sinfonía en agujas US 9 (5.5mm) pero doble porque es spotweight y me iba a tardar siglos en terminarla.

I also got the wooden buttons for the Buttony.

Ya también conseguí los botones de madera para el Buttony y esta listo para que se los ponga.

After all this stockinette and garter I really feel the need for some lace. I chose the DB Pure Silk that I had in my stash (yummy stuff) and the Flower Basket Shawl pattern from Interweave Fall 2004. This pattern asks for 437 yds and I only have 411 yds, hope is enough.

Después de tanto derecho y cosas sencillas me urge algo de complicación en mi tejido y decidí empezar un chal con la seda Debbie Bliss que compre. Tengo poca (solo 3 madejas) así que decidí hacer el Flower Basket Shawl de la revista Interweave Otoño 2004. El patrón te pide 2 madejas de 400m pero usada doble (400 metros en total) y yo tengo 3 madejas de 125m (375m en total) espero que sea suficiente.

Buttony almost done

Thank you all for your kind comments on the new blog design (Raz thanks you too). Speaking of Raz, yesterday was his birthday and I just want to say I love you bb!

In knitting news I finished the Buttony Sweater, just after the cold weather we had this weekend ended, bad luck but I’m loving how it looks. I just need to get the buttons. I’m thinking wood buttons would look great with the color.

En noticias tejeriles termine el Buttony Sweater este fin de semana justo después de que se acabo la onda fria que tuvimos, mala suerte y ahora solo restan los botones que no tengo. Quiero ver si encuentro unos de madera, se me hace que se verían preciosos con el color del sweater.

Encouraged by Andrea and sad because I missed the deadline of the Swapetines (A sock exchange organized by Hispanic knitters) I just entered the Sockapalooza 4. I’m so exited, I have never been on a exchange of hand knitted goodies.

I'm also very happy to tell you that Urraca and Mae published together the first issue of Tejemanejes, the first online knitting magazine in Spanish. Way to go girls you rock! Is great to see the hispanic knitting community growing.

También incitada por Andrea y despechada porque se me pasaron las fechas de los Swapetines me inscribí al Sockapalooza 4. Estoy emocionada ya que nunca he tenido un intercambio de cosas tejidas.

Ahhh y por si todavía existe alguien que no la haya visto salio la revista Tejemanejes de Urraca y Mae, con patrones hermosos (el del Domo-Kun es mi preferido) y en nuestro idioma. Felicidades chicas, excelente trabajo! me encanta ver como esta creciendo la cominidad de tejedoras en español

New Look

Raz redesigned my blog. I just love how it looks, the colors are perfect (Raz had a lot of patience as I changed them a considerable number of times) and the general feeling of the blog is cuteness itself. The art from the banner is from Raz too; he made it as an anniversary present last year (look how he is bringing me more yarn, so cute). There are still some details to work out so bear with me for the next couple of days if thing don't work as they should. What do you think of the new look?

Raz me rediseño el blog. Me encanto como quedo, los colores están perfectos (Raz tuvo mucha paciencia ya que los cambie mil veces) y la imagen general esta toda cute. El arte del banner y fue hecho por Raz también como regalo de aniversario el año pasado (en el dibujo Raz esta trayendo mas estambre jeje). Todavía quedan algunos detalles por arreglar así que tengan paciencia si algunas partes del blog no funcionan bien por este tiempo. Que opinan del cambio de look?
