Urban done!

Pattern: Urban Aran from Patons Street Smart (Book # 50098)
Yarn: School Products Coned Merino(100% superwash merino, 130g, 360 yds.), 1 cone and a bit.
Needles: Addi Turbo US 8 5mm 24" for collar; Addi Turbo US 9 5.5mm 24" for base of body; Addi Turbo US 10 6mm 24" for body
Cast On: December 17
Cast Off: February 16
Mods: Basically I did the same mods Jared did, I exchanged a few mails with him and he recommended adding length to the sleeves, body and armholes. I obviously made the pullover into a cardigan adding a stitch of selvage in each side of the center cable panel. For the collar I followed the center panel and did one more repeat in US 8 needles.

Pues básicamente me base en lo que hizo Jared, intercambie unos cuantos mails con el y me recomendó alargar un poco las mangas y el cuerpo, así como también ponerle algo mas de largo a los amrholes. También lo hice un cardigan agregando un punto de derecho al panel de cables del centro. Para el cuello seguí el patrón del cable e hice una repetición mas pero con agujas US 8.

Comments:This is my third sweater and I’ll admit, I’m getting better. I struggled less with the finishing and sewing, and kept track of all mods and sizes on post its in the pattern and trusting less in my memory. The pattern is really simple but the cables become annoying when you have to cross 16 times in a row with a cable needle (I just can’t master the cable without a cable needle method), after that is a breeze.

But I’m very happy with the way the project turned out and Raz loves it, and It fits, so that’s good. The only thing I’m not happy with is the zipper, it kind of puckers and gets sucked with the sweater so I’ll be changing it soon.

Este es el tercer sweater que hago y tengo que admitir que estoy mejorando. Batalle menos para cocerlo esta vez y para mantener las medidas y modificaciones correctas ya no confié en mi memoria y utilicé post its con anotaciones. El patrón en realidad es sencillo pero los cables se vuelven algo fastidiosos cuando estas haciendo la espalda y el frente en el momento que tienes que cruzar 16 cables en una línea y mas cuando lo haces con aguja para cables porque de plano no me hallo con el método de cables sin aguja pero después de eso se va rápido.

Estoy muy contenta con el proyecto en general y a Raz le encanta y le queda! pero no estoy contenta con el cierre, creo que no lo cocí derecho y como que se hacen bultitos además algunas veces se atasca con el sweater, así que yo creo que voy a cambiarlo pronto.

Fixation

The Urban Aran is done, I finished last Friday but Raz hasn’t let me take photos yet. In the meantime I can show you what I’m working on: This is Salina from Vintage Knits, the yarn is Rowan’s Felted tweed. I’m knitting in the round till the armhole decreases start.

El Urban Aran esta terminado, lo termine el viernes pero Raz no se ha dejado tomar las fotos. Mientras les muestro lo que estoy haciendo ahora, un sweater para mi. El patrón es Salina del libro Vintage Knits en estambre Felted Tweed de Rowan. Lo estoy tejiendo redondo hasta que llegue a las disminuciones de la manga.

I can’t stop thinking about sweaters, even if its starting to feel like spring here, these are the ones I been eying: Lace Leaf Pullover and Sunrise Circle Jacket from Interweave and the Central Park Hoodie from Knitscene. Not to mention I want to make an Urban Aran for myself perhaps with a little shaping and an EZ’s Seamless Hybrid sweater for Raz. I don’t want much, do I?

No se porque ahora que ya es casi primavera en lo único que puedo pensar es en hacer mas suéteres, estos son a los que les he echado el ojo: es Lace Leaf Pullover y Sunrise Circle Jacket de Interweave y la Central Park Hoodie de Knitscene. Además quiero hacer un Urban Aran para mi y un Seamless Hybrid de Elizabeth Zimmerman para Raz. No quiero nada verdad?

Look at the prettty yarn

The Urban Aran is blocked and sewed, just the zipper left, is a shame I couldn't get the 2 way zipper that Andrea suggested.

This is the first that I sew a zipper to a handknit so I'm pretty nervous about it, but I think I'll be fine following these excelent tutorials and my trusty Vogue Knitting book.

And to distract you from the lack of pictures of the Urban Aran, look at this beautiful skein I just got in the mail. This is Vesper Sock Yarn in Knit and Tonic and I can't stop petting it.

El Urban Uran esta hormado y armado, solo falta el cierre que desgraciadamente no consegui con doble cierre como me habia sugerido Andrea.

Este es el primer cierre que pongo a un sueter y estoy algo nerviosa pero siguiendo exelentes referencias y mi libro de Vogue Knitting espero que todo salga bien.

Ahhh para distraer de mi falta de fotografias del Urban Aran puse un estambre que me acaba de llegar es Vesper Sock Yarn en el color de Knit and Tonic y no he parado de acariciarlo desde que llego.

Urban blocking

Finally here’s the Urban Aran in all its blocking glory, the boyfriend may be lucky enough to wear it this week, as soon as I decide what to do with the collar. The pieces needed to be well washed because of the coned oiled yarn and I was bold enough to just throw it in the washing machine. It was a success, nothing catastrophic happened, the yarn behaved very well it puff up nicely and lengthen a bit (I was really counting on that). It all looks good, I just need to find a zipper.

Finalmente aquí este el Urban Aran siendo hormado, si Raz corre con suerte lo podrá usar esta semana! solo tengo que decidir que hacer con el cuello. Las piezas del sweater necesitaban lavarse super bien (por el estambre en cono) y en un acto bastante valiente de mi parte metí todo a la lavadora en el ciclo de tejidos. Todo resulto bien y el estambre se relleno y se alargaron un poco las piezas, algo con lo que estaba contando porque el suéter diseñado para mujer necesitaba mas largo para quedarle a un hombre. Todo parece ir bien, solo necesito encontrar un zipper y listo (si solo supiera donde conseguir zippers separables aquí, alguna idea Myrth?)
