Mail, a sock and a frog

I got my Sundara Petals Collection sock yarn (finally) featuring the Calla Lily. I love the packet, so cute. It contains a pattern, the sock yarn, a note of thanks, lollipop and a postcard of the calla lily. I like the pattern but I think it will work better with solid yarn. I’m thinking something fun for this yarn maybe tabi socks (scroll to bottom).

But I wont be casting on any time soon, I first got to finish the embossed leaves socks, pretty aren't they?

ELS

I loooooovvvveeeee the Koigu color not quite variegated not solid, not pink not purple, just perfect.

I decided to have a hand at crochet, I taught myself and did a little swatch, then started on this cute little thing for Raz:

Amigurumi

The pattern is from a japanese book, that's like ALL in japanese (let me express that my japanese is nowhere near the level of reading), and it did it, an it even looks good. I'm feeling elated with the success of figuring out a chart in japanese and this first attempt at crocheting.

In case you are curious the yarn is the left over of the Gems Opal for the Simply Lovely Lace socks and some random red yarn.

Comments:
Should have used smaller needles! that's the first thing I think when I see the finished shawl. I should have been as wise as Andrea and started on smaller needles since I felt the first pangs of doubt. Well it came out ok, finished mesures are 54" x 24" just a bit bigger than on the pattern. I cut it very close with the yarn, forgot to take a picture but i was left with less than 15 inches of yarn after bind off.

The yarn is good, soft and plumps nicely after washing but I was kind of let down, I expected more of cashmere I guess.

The pattern is a really simple repeat that looks fabulous and is a brezze to work, after the scary cast on. But don't worry it only seems scary because you have to crochet a chain and start knitting from there, but its really not. Talking about crochet I may have overcome my terror of it, more on the next post.

I have been knitting a lot but not on anything worth of blogging, my Shibori Scarf is still 15" short and that on lace weight is ages. I have also been working on the Bomber Jacket, so far I have finished the back, the right front and started a sleeve. This is going extra slow as I can't knit in denim as long as I would want to, the stress on my hands is a lot more than with wool.

I have made no progress whatsoever on the toe up STR. The second sock sindrome got me bad, and the fact that I despise the magic loop metod is not helping. I am also terribly tempted to make the Embossed Leaves Socks (scroll down) and with this Koigu, wouldn't you too?
