Blame it on whatever

I can blame wedding planning, intensive Japanese classes or global warming for my lack of posts but why bother? Lets move on…

First an FO

Podría culpar a la planeación de la boda, a mis clases intensivas de japonés o al calentamiento global por mi falta de posts, pero la verdad para que molestarme con excusas, mejor seguimos.

Primero un proyecto terminado desde hace rato

Pattern: Kusha Kusha Scarf from Habu Texiles
Yarn: Habu Silk Stainless A-20/21 1/20 (Wool, Stainless Steel 14g, 622 yds.) in Black, 1 skein and Habu Super Fine Merino A-177 (100% Wool, 28g, 747 yds.) in Brown?, 1 skein.
Needles: Addi US 8 (5mm).
Cast On: Sometime last year
Cast Off: In spring
Mods: None, just knitted till I was out of the black yarn.

Ninguna, solo teji con el hilo negro hasta que se acabo.

Knitting with this yarn, so fine that is almost thread, with large needles was very annoying also the texture of the steel/silk yarn is somewhat odd, scratchy but not irritating. Incredibly I made a lot of mistakes with this simple pattern, I knitted the merino/silk-steel part in garter stitch instead of stst and it was crazy to rip all 40”, so I let it be and you can hardly tell after the felting anyway. Making this scarf was a little boring (I thought the black thread was endless) but very rewarding, it looks spectacular and even the weather got cooler this weekend for the photo shoot.

Tejer con estambre tan delgadito en agujas tan grandes fue muy molesto, además de que la textura del estambre de acero con seda esta medio rara, algo rasposa pero no me irrito ni nada. Cometí algunos errores increíblemente con el patrón tan sencillo, al principio yo pensé que era punto de musgo pero resulto ser de jersey, bueno al menos no se noto con la felteada. Hacer esta bufanda es algo monótono (pense que el hilo negro no se iba a acabar nunca!) pero la verdad es que vale la pena, esta sencilla y se ve espectacular, incluso el clima coopero este fin de semana para las fotos.

Ed and Dulce, two of my closest friends, are having their first baby girl this fall and of course the occasion calls for a sweater. My first choice was the Baby Sweater on two needles (ravelry) by Elizabeth Zimmermann, it’s girly and I’ve been wanting to knit it for some time. I had a hard time choosing the yarn, I wanted something in natural fibers, soft, machine washable and bright, I finally decided to go with the Flecee Artist Sea Wool in the raspberry colorway. Very girly, pretty and bright.

Ed y Dulce, dos de mis mejores amigos, van a tener su primer bebe y pues la ocasión amerita un sweater. Como es niña el primer patrón que se me vino a la mente es el de Baby Sweater on two needles (ravelry) de Elizabeth Zimmermann que quería hacer desde hace tiempo. Batallé mucho en escoger el estambre, quería algo en fibras naturales, suave, lavable en maquina y con colores brillantes por fin me decidí por el Flecee Artist Sea Wool en color Raspberry.

And while I was waiting for the yarn this came out, and I thought it’d be good practice to make one (yep, just excuses for making one for myself first). I used Debbie Bliss Cathay from the stash and I’m at the sleeves so far.

Y pues mientras llegaba el estambre y para practicar porque no hacer uno para mi? Con Debbie Bliss Cathay que ya tenia guardado empecé el famoso February Lady Sweater y ya voy en las mangas.
