The concert was great in short and I enjoyed it a lot in my passive way, for more accurate descriptions check my friends’ blogs (Spanish only).

The day after the concert we made the mandatory stop at a LYS, Twisted Yarns in Spring Texas. Beautiful store, great selection, good prices and very helpful people, you should visit if you have the chance.

And of course I bought some souvenir yarn: Plymouth Royal Llama Linen (Yarn envy, totally Mache’s fault for buying it first), Claudia’s Hand Painted Yarns Fingering Wt. (I’ve been dying to get my hands on this one, softest merino ever), Louet Gems, Manos del Uruguay Wool Clasica y Silk Blend (yep, in the same colorway).

All those hours in the car really paid off because I’m almost done with the Kusha Kusha Scarf(ravelry link), I started (and almost finished) 2 Bainbridge Scarves(ravelry link) and finished the new Stephenie Meyer book (amaizing btw).

We really had a blast. I’m learning to care for road trips with good company. More pics on my Flickr.

I made this shawl for my mom's birthday, I choose this particular pattern because it has lots of stockinette stitch and she likes warmer shawls. I very pleased to say that she loved it, even if it was a couple of days late.

I love this one and after seeing Steph's beautiful version I couldn't help using the 2 Malagrigo skeins in my stash to make one.

I’d have like to start posting in chronological order but I just cant help to show you this first. Yummy Wollmeise that I got from a swap with Mari.

First of all, thank you all for your good wishes and congratulations, we are so exited! (Raz says thanks too). We want an autumn wedding so there’s a lot to do and that’s why I haven been posting regularly. Some of you asked what I wanted to knit for the wedding and the ideal would be a shawl but if there is no time at least a lace garter.

The days have been flying over here with all the wedding preparations and family and friend’s birthdays but I have been busy, every year I knit a sweater for Raz and since I didn’t finish it for our anniversary it’ll be now an engagement sweater. The pattern is the Seamless Hybrid (ravelry link) by Elizabeth Zimmerman and made famous by Jared. I’m now at the point where the body and the sleeves are joined, but the sleeves are in process still, sorry for the lateness baby!

I’m in love with the contrast color hem detail. The yarn is Yorkshire Tweed Aran in Wild Plum.

My mom’s birthday is coming at the end of the month and she has been hinted that she wants a red shawl, so that’s what she’ll get. I decided on the Seraphim Shawl pattern because I wanted a really warm shawl and even though it has very little lace is lovely pattern. I’m also knitting the sweater in sport weight yarn, as my mom is always cold. The shawl is a lot more advanced so I’m confident I’ll finish it in time.

I have been meaning to post this since my birthday in December, Mache (ravelry link) knitted it for me, isn’t it the cutest birthday present? Thanks a lot Mache, I love it!

Muchas gracias Mache, me encanta!

I have a lot of projects to post and I had a little episode involving hats, but I’ll tell you about that later.

Mods: None.

Comments: The first thing I want to say is that Kate Gilbert is a genius, the construction of this sweater is too brilliant, first you start to knit the sleeve and when you’re ready to decrease for armhole shaping you start increasing to make the front of the sweater. When you finish the armholes your front is done and you just knit the hem. I’m awed by her math power.

This unusual construction also has its drawbacks because from the moment you start the increasing for the front each and every one of the rows are knit in a different way and there’re no charts so is very easy to get lost in the beginning. It gets easier as you advance and get the rhythm of the knitting.

I was worried about the fit because my gauge was not perfect but I shouldn’t have worried this sweater has a very forgiving fit and with a careful button placement you should have the fit you like. It took me 2 trials to get a snug look.

The finishing was the hardest thing for me because I had no idea of how to sew knitted hems (or normal ones for that matter) and I couldn’t find any info on the net. So I got inventive and tried a backstitch, the result was horrible. So I kept looking and found an obscure reference to using the whipstitch, so I did and it was good. I loved knitting this jacket and the final result.

This skein in the color Flourite was on my first order ever of Socks that Rock and that was the first time I realized that internet colors lie. You all now that I love STR, it is my favorite sock yarn but some color combinations are a little bold for me. So as a weekend project I decided to over-dye it and the result was a beautiful semi solid brick red skein.

Comments:I love it! Of course I finally finished just before the autumn set in, but at least I got around to wear it once. I actually finished knitting it a while ago but straight off the needles it was too small and not so drapey and I didn’t had the energy to knit a third one so I left it unblocked in my knitting basket. I though of washing it on a pure whim and it was just what it needed the stitches relaxed and grew so it fits like a dream and has a wonderful drape. Now the only problem is that I’m not used to wear something as revealing so I really need to find a backless interior blouse.

Me encanta!

First two weekends ago, Raz, some friends and me went to the Austin City Limits music festival at Zilker Park. We had a great time, ate good food, got a great sunburn and listened to fantastic music (yay! Decemberists) and new music. I didn’t take a single pic, they didn’t allow SLR cameras at the festival so I stole all the pics from Raz.

Of course a visit to Austin translates to a visit to Hill Country Weavers, I have no words, what a fantastic yarn store (amazingly stocked), very friendly people and perfect schedule (they open on Sundays).

Is a very cute shop too

Apoco no esta hermosa la fachada?

Mache arrived the next day with a perfect excuse to make another trip to the store

The purchase I like the most is the Kusha Kusha scarf kit from Habu textiles, with merino wool and silk stainless steel, how cool is that? Here’s one beautiful one from iSel.

And of course I bought sock yarn, and evidently cast on immediately. I’m stuck at the heel though, because I want to try a different short row heel recommended by Andrea.

You can see the other yarn purchases here.

I was going to post that I was knitting a bolero bet before I got around to do it the bolero was done. The pattern is the Ribbed Lace Bolero and I found it on Ravelry, and is a great and free pattern with a very simple construction (a rectangle of ribbing, lace, ribbing with the sides sewed) and I really love it but with certain restrictions.

To start I decided to Use the Pakucho Cotton, but it seems that is cursed (remember Coachella) because I wasn’t happy with the result and I was determined to frog and knit it again. But I thought better about it (knitting lace with cotton is not my thing) and decided that I could salvage the project after all because the only thing I didn't liked was the too loose ribbing. So, by simply frogging the ribbing from the beginning and end and knit it again in the round with smaller needles, avoiding side seams too, I could have my bolero back. And I know I’m going to have to rip and untangle the ribbing from the beginning stitch by stitch, but I prefer it to knit the whole thing again. Wish me luck, I hope I can break the curse.

I’m back from Orlando, well last week in fact but we had a great time, it was so much fun having all the family there. I ended a bit tired, we finished the days in the wee hours of the night (did you know that Magic Kingdom closes at 3 am on Friday) and I didn’t knit a stitch in all of the trip.

Now I’m back to normal I need another distraction from my complete lack of progress in knitting, so here’s the package for my sockpal Scrabblequeen.

The package includes socks, leftover yarn, handmade stitchmarkers, handmade project bag, Glorias (traditional milk candy) and a card. And she loved it all, I’m really happy about it.

I just got word from my sockpal and she says that my socks will be mailed on Monday. I can’t wait.
